We met just before 11am at the cold and windswept market square in Milnthorpe. We played and danced for about 40 minutes – sometimes dry, sometimes through mizzle – to the delight of the hardy spectators who had braved the conditions. When the rain started to fall properly, we took cover in and around the market – eventually adjourning to the nearby Bull’s Head. After checking the forecast and considering our options, we decided to abandon our plans to go to Morecambe. Instead, we stayed in the pub, where we had a good time entertaining ourselves and some of the locals with an impromptu mixture of song, music and dance.
