We joined our good friends Powderkegs and Clerical Error to help celebrate a momentous day at the internationally renowned Bodnant Garden.
Gathering first at The Old Mill for a warm by the open fire, the sides then joined garden visitors, Head Gardener Michael McLaren and celebrated TV gardening expert Christine Walkden at The Far End for the official opening.
The Far End has been painstakingly restored by Bodnant’s team of gardeners and dedicated volunteers, all thanked during the opening ceremony.
You can read more about The Far End and the day’s celebrations on the Bodnant Blog.
Back at The Mill, the Morris sides entertained visitors with a range of traditional and modern Border Morris dances, followed by a massed processional dance – the kind of dance we use for festival processions through a town’s streets.
Despite heavy rain first thing, the clouds cleared and the sun shone. Towards the end of the day all three sides gathered at the Garden’s entrance for more dancing, culminating in another massed dance. Dances are often shared when sides come together, keeping the tradition vibrant.
